I’d link to the article but it’s boring and I think I’m starting to pass out from my Arsenic Juice Box!
Basically, the FDA proposed to put a limit on the amount of inorganic arsenic found in apple juice, using their already existing standards for amounts of inorganic arsenic currently ALLOWED in drinking water.
Although Arenic is found in the environment as a naturally occurring mineral, the FDA considers it’s presence in drinking water as “naturally occurring” due to “activities such as the use of arsenic-containing pesticides.”
The FDA also disclosed new data from the monitoring program for arsenic in juice. Nine previously undisclosed test results reveal arsenic levels above the current level of concern, 23 parts per billion. Big Apple Juice must’ve kept those tests quiet.
